Señoritas is a new series of Osteospermum that stand out due to their growth and flowering properties in the garden, on the balcony, or on the terrace. This cheerful summer bloomer is also known as Spanish Daisy, good to know!
The Osteospermum naturally occurs in the Eastern Cape province of South Africa. This explains why this plant is also called the Cape Daisy. The plant thrives well in temperate to warm regions.
As early as the beginning of spring, the Señoritas become available to florists, garden centers, and DIY stores, bringing color and cheerfulness to gardens, balconies, or terraces throughout the spring and summer. The Señoritas are a popular summer bloomer because, during their exuberant bloom, bees and bumblebees also love to visit the flowers in search of nectar.
Fun fact: Once the sun has disappeared and evening falls, you will see the Señoritas’ flowers slightly close, only to fully unfold again the next morning upon seeing the sun.
Last week, at breeder Hendriks Youngplants, we had the chance to see some beautiful new colors that will enrich the assortment in the coming years. Curious about next year’s collection? Then keep an eye on nurseries V and S and Spaloo Plants, as they specialize in cultivating the beautiful Señoritas.
