The Colorita®, also known as Alstroemeria in pot, has been a well-known garden plant at specialty green shops like florists, garden centres and DIY shops during the summer months for years. The wild patterns on the petals and the sparkling colors stand out when Colorita® is placed in a pot on the balcony or terrace, or in the garden border. When consumers combine multiple pots of different colors, it creates a summery garden party atmosphere!
Although Colorita® appreciates coolness, it also adapts well during periods of summer drought. To enjoy Colorita® year after year, it is important to provide the customer in your store with the following tips: The plants are moderately hardy, down to about -7°C, as long as the ground is not too wet in winter. If the plants are planted in the border (open ground), it is advisable to protect Colorita® well with a thick layer of leaves during the colder winter months, especially in the first few years after purchase. If Colorita® is in a pot, it is wise for the consumer to overwinter them frost-free in a light, airy, and minimally heated space. The faded flower stems can be pruned back to the ground in autumn. If this is done successfully, Colorita® will beautifully sprout fresh shoots in spring, which will then bloom attractively.
There is a Colorita® for every style and taste, as the entire collection consists of multiple sunny colors: white, yellow, orange, red, pink, purple, and bicolored. There are even variants with variegated leaves: Colorita® Claressa, Colorita® Katiana, and Colorita® Fabienne… all of them are beautiful appearances. Due to the amount of nectar and pollen, Colorita® is a popular plant for bees. The visible guidelines for nectar on the petals lead the bees to the source of their food, while the open flower shape provides them with easy access and protection from the wind.
