The holiday season is coming to an end in some regions, and it’s the perfect time for customers to look for new houseplants to refresh their homes. It is important to be prepared for this demand in your plant purchases, and we will be paying extra attention to this in the coming weeks.
Let’s start by showcasing a lovely variety of hanging plants called ‘Hang on Green.’ This assortment of green houseplants is easy to care for and, due to their size and shape, can be incorporated into the living room, kitchen, bathroom, or home office in various ways. We are also sharing some images for inspiration.
Something for everyone!
The ‘Hang on Green’ collection consists of a variety of green houseplants. Did you know that these plants can be hung up but also look great in a tall vase or pot on the edge of furniture, allowing the plant to drape beautifully over the side? Each type has its unique characteristics and ornamental value, so let’s highlight a few specifically:
Aeschynanthus ‘Japhrolepis’
Originally, I come from the humid rainforests of Asia, stretching from the Himalayas to Indonesia. My ancestors grew in the trees there. I feel right at home in a bright, warm spot in the living room, kitchen, bathroom, or home office without direct sunlight. I grow compactly, and my long foliage likes to spread out in length and width.
Peperomia
Our family is very large, with hundreds of species. We are mainly known for the ornamental value of our green leaves. Originally, we come from South America and the West Indies. We thrive best in a warm, shady environment and don’t require much care: a weekly splash of water suffices—we prefer less rather than more water. In the ‘Hang on Green’ collection, you can find Peperomia Isabelle (fresh green with compact growth), Peperomia Prostrata, Peperomia Puteolata, and Peperomia Pepperspot.
Hoya
We originate from Southeast Asia and were first discovered in the Philippines. Commonly, we are also known as wax plants because of the waxy sheen on our leaves. We are also referred to as the Jewel of the Rainforest. The Hoya family is large, differing in leaf shapes, green shades, and flower colors. In the ‘Hang on Green’ collection, you can find Hoya Memoria Gracilis (dark green leaves with silver spots), Hoya Carnosa Rubra (pink flowers), and Hoya Linearis. We thrive in a warm, bright place and do not need much water or plant food.
Senecio herreianus
I am also known as String of Pearls, a nod to my long strands of green pearls. But you can also call me a beautiful pea plant. My peas are teardrop-shaped, created by rolling up my leaves to prevent quick dehydration under the South African sun, where I originally come from. In the living room, kitchen, bathroom, or home office, I grow best in a bright, draft-free place without direct sunlight. A temperature between 18 and 24 degrees is ideal. Despite my fragile appearance, I am very easy to care for and do not need much water.
Dischidia nummularia
My leaves look like buttons, which is why I am sometimes called the Button Orchid. In the wild, I prefer to grow on tree trunks in rainforests. In the living room, kitchen, bathroom, or home office, I grow best in a bright place without direct sunlight. If I am happy, I can grow vines up to 3 meters long.
