The Glass Tulip Award 2024
During the week of the Royal FloraHolland Trade Fair, the winners of the Glass Tulip Award were traditionally announced. These award recognize breeders and growers who have invested significant time—often several years—into developing innovative products. Among breeders and growers, it’s an exciting yearly competition to see which product or concept wins the jury’s appreciation or the public award.
The Glass Tulip Award were presented in five categories:

– Public Award: Alstroemeria Fashionista Sofiena, H.M. Tesselaar
– Flowering Indoor Plants: Kalanchoe Wild Flowers Surprising Canyon, Vilosa
– Public Award: Dendrobium Nobile Variegata, De Hoog Orchids
– Green Indoor Plants: Begonia maculata Black Forest, J&P ten Have
– Public Award: Aloe Vera Tropical, Amigo Plant
– Garden Plants: Camellia japonica Femme Fatale, Snepvangers Tuinplanten BV
– Public Award: Geum ‘Orange Pumpkin’ PBR, Colour Your Season – Natuurlijk Hopmans
– Concepts: Chrysanne (pot) Flowerpops, Fa. Lionplant
– Public Award: Hosta Aqua+, Jac. Uittenbogaard & Zonen
These award highlight the importance of innovation and sustainability in the ornamental horticulture sector and place the winners in the spotlight for their contributions to a greener future.
A unique achievement this year went to Alstroemeria Fashionista Sofiena from grower and breeder H.M. Tesselaar from Heerhugowaard.
This newcomer, previously featured on Home & Garden Inspirations, captured both the jury’s first prize and the public award.
These innovative and striking products are excellent additions for your store as real eye-catchers that will help you stand out in your local market.
Most of these new products are currently fully or partially available, while some will become available in the course of 2025 due to seasonal factors (particularly for outdoor plants).
